A Bit About Dr. Whitton
Dr. Stacy Whitton brings a thoughtful, highly skilled approach to equine veterinary care, with a focus on advanced diagnostics, performance medicine, and whole-horse management. She grew up in Franktown, Colorado, immersed in the local horse community—riding on the hunter circuit, eventing, and participating in Pony Club. Her early experiences shaped a deep understanding of the equine athlete and the level of care required to support performance horses. Dr. Whitton’s path to veterinary medicine reflects both curiosity and dedication. She earned her degree in biochemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder, served with AmeriCorps*NCCC in disaster response, and began her veterinary career as a certified veterinary technician before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Illinois in 2015. After an internship at Equine Medical Center of Ocala, she returned to Colorado and joined Iron Horse Equine in 2016. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Whitton serves as Medical Director, where she leads medical standards, mentors veterinarians, and helps ensure consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care across the practice. Dr. Whitton focuses on sports medicine and rehabilitation, with a particular interest in complex lameness cases and high-level performance horses. She also oversees our in-house rehabilitation services at Morning Sky Farm, supporting recovery, conditioning, and long-term soundness through a comprehensive approach. Her clinical style is direct, thoughtful, and solutions-oriented—providing clear recommendations and structured care plans that help clients move forward with confidence. She works especially well with owners who value expert guidance and a clear, well-defined plan for their horse’s care. Dr. Whitton integrates advanced training in chiropractic and acupuncture, along with a strong interest in nutrition, to support a whole-horse approach to care. In addition to her work in equine welfare, she remains involved in veterinary emergency response and disaster relief efforts. Outside of practice, she enjoys riding her young horse, Tricycle, and spending time outdoors in Colorado with her dog, Rue Yeti, as well as family and friends.
