Health Certs & Coggins
Health Certificates & Coggins Testing | Iron Horse Equine – Elizabeth, CO
Health certificates, also called Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), and Coggins testing for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) are essential for safe and legal travel with your horse. Many events, shows, sales, and boarding facilities require current documentation confirming your horse is healthy and negative for EIA.

At Iron Horse Equine, we provide official health certificates and Coggins testing to help ensure your horse meets travel requirements and arrives safely at their destination.

What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your horse will receive a physical examination to confirm overall health and absence of contagious disease.
For Coggins testing, a blood sample is collected and submitted for official testing. Results are then recorded on official documentation required for travel and events.
We will review your health certificate questionnaire and ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately for your destination.

Planning Ahead
Health certificates are typically valid for a limited time period (often 30 days, depending on destination), while Coggins tests are commonly valid for 12 months (requirements may vary by state or event). A negative Coggins result can take 3-5 business days. Health certificates can be created the same day as the examination if all required information is complete.
We recommend scheduling ahead of travel to allow time for testing and paperwork.
